Giulia Cenci

Giulia Cenci graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna (2007–2012), earned an MFA from the St. Joost Academy in Den Bosch and Breda, Netherlands (2013–2015), and took part in the residency program at De Ateliers in Amsterdam (2015–2017). She has shown her work in major institutions and exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad. Among her solo exhibitions: SECONDARY GROWTH (Pièce Unique MDC, Paris); MUDAM (Luxembourg); fango and ground ground (SpazioA, Pistoia); Da lontano era un’isola (Kunst Merano Arte, Merano).

 

Her group exhibitions include: 59th Venice Biennale (2022), where she presented a large-scale installation at the Arsenale; The High Line (New York, 2024/25); MAXXI BVLGARI PRIZE, curated by Giulia Ferracci (MAXXI, Rome); Shapeshifters, curated by Anna Johansson (Malmö Konstmuseum, Sweden); Metallo Urlante (Campoli Presti, Paris); 15th Lyon Biennale / Jeune création internationale, curated by Palais de Tokyo and the Institute of Contemporary Art (Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes); Comrades of Time, curated by Whatspace (Hardspace, Basel); FutuRuins, curated by D. Ferretti, D. Ozerkov, and D. Dalla Lana (Palazzo Fortuny, Venice); That’s IT!, curated by L. Balbi (MAMbo, Bologna); Hybrids, curated by C. Driessen & D. She was awarded the Baloise Art Prize at Art Basel in 2019 and was among the selected finalists for the MAXXI BVLGARI PRIZE in 2020.
