Memory – Movement – Playful – Remembrance – Nostalgia

Thainan Castro, a visual artist and designer from Rio de Janeiro, has developed his creative narrative through memory, exploring his personal experiences and urban dynamics to reveal a playful and nostalgic universe.

His work is a dialogue between the past and the present, where every drawn line and represented object invites the viewer on a personal journey of recognition and connection. Through his art, Thainan transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, exploring the ability of memory to evoke both the fragility and strength of the human spirit. Thainan’s work is an invitation to look beyond the visible, in a meeting between individual and collective memory.

His drawings are fragments that capture a lapse of time, small details, gestures, movements, and objects within voids, which symbolize the emptiness that fills us and that we fill with our memories and experiences.

Thainan Castro was nominated for the PIPA Prize 2021.
He currently resides and works in London, GB, developing new studies at the Royal Drawing School.
